"JOAQUINA CAYETANA" is the fusion of creative design and outstanding artisan talent, originating from Latin American culture. One-of-a-kind bags, meticulously handcrafted, combining the highest quality leathers and suedes with the unique hand-woven straps and cords from the Wayuu culture of Colombia, South America. Its designer, Joaquina Castillo, has understood how important it is for the Colombian culture to enhance its creativity and preserve its traditions, and has provided indigenous tribes with sustainable and permanent production.

Joaquina Castillo, born in Manhattan, NY in the late 1960’s. Daughter of José Guillermo Castillo, who developed a successful career as a plastic artist through the New York Graphic Workshop, and founder of an innovative Latin American Contemporary Art Gallery in Caracas, Venezuela. Joaquina studied Graphic Design at the prestigious Newman Graphic Design Institute of Caracas. Shortly after finishing her university degree, she started a line of handmade leather bags in Venezuela, with enough success to exhibit at prestigious international fairs and sell in recognized stores in the United States and Europe. In 2001, she relocated to USA with her family, leaving in a stand-by the bag production for the equestrian business, restarting it during pandemic to create “JOAQUINA CAYETANA”.

“JOAQUINA CAYETANA” is a woman who is urban minded and has a natural curiosity about the world. She feels identified with global culture. She wants to reflect her unique style with what she wears by making casual look chic.
