Joaquina Castillo, born in Manhattan, NY in the late 1960’s. Daughter of José Guillermo Castillo, who developed a successful career as a plastic artist through the New York Graphic Workshop, and founder of an innovative Latin American Contemporary Art Gallery in Caracas, Venezuela.
Joaquina studied Graphic Design at the prestigious Newman Graphic Design Institute of Caracas. Shortly after finishing her university degree, she started a line of handmade leather bags in Venezuela, with enough success to exhibit at prestigious international fairs and sell in recognized stores in the United States and Europe. In 2001, she relocated to USA with her family, leaving in a stand-by the bag production for the equestrian business, restarting it during pandemic to create “JOAQUINA CAYETANA”.
